Brighton has always been a romantic city, and couples flood here year round to enjoy the wide variety of activities on offer. Whether you are looking for a relaxed and quiet getaway or an adrenaline fuelled energy burst, I can assure you we have it all. Below are some of my highlights to get the most for the two of you this coming summer.
GET INTO THE ROMANTIC MOOD WITH THE RIGHT PLACE TO DINE
Whether for lunch or dinner, getting the right location is key to the perfect couple’s meal. So choose small, quaint and unique to create the perfect atmosphere. I would be remiss if I didn’t recommend our own New Steine Bistro, small and intimate with a great range of French English cuisine. Or one of my other favourites would be the Gingerman on Norfolk Square. A great fine dining experience and an amazing menu.
WHAT ABOUT A GREAT BAR TO CHILL IN AFTER DINNER?
Definitely check out Be At One cocktail bar in the lanes. A small cosy bar with a great atmosphere and family free (over 18’s only), as well as good prices, especially a generous happy hour. Or you have Bohemia, with its jazz bar vibe and an amazing sun terrace on the roof so you can watch the sprawling streets go by below whilst you relax and get close.
I WANT TO DO SOMETHING DIFFERENT?
Is comedy you’re thing? The Krater Comedy Nights at the Komedia are a must see – with big name headliners, cheap grub and a fully stocked bar – but my advice is, if you’re on a first date maybe avoid the front row seats as you’re bound to get involved with the comedy. Why don’t you cosy up to each other at an outside screening? Take in a late Friday night showing of a classic, or catch your favourite sports event – they’re showing it all throughout the summer. How about the Great Game Treasure Hunt? Not on until October, but if you can wait it’s a great way to test the bond you have as a couple as you have to work together, discovering all of Brighton whilst hunting for the ultimate prize.
WHAT ABOUT THAT SPECIAL LITTLE EXTRA SURPRISE?
For those looking to have a truly memorable experience in Brighton, there are various options I would recommend. The late night ride of the Brighton i360, sipping a glass of bubbly, is definitely top of my list, soaring above the Brighton skyline. For the wine connoisseur, take in a private Wine Tasting at Ten Green Bottles in Jubilee Street. Fine wines and your own personal qualified sommelier to guide your through the best tastes. If you want something more energetic, you could try couples dancing, whether Salsa or the Lindy Hop. Not necessarily my kind of thing, but friends have told me how exhilarating it is. Why not try out a couples massage – we have plenty of recommendations from our Concierge service so don’t forget to ask.
Whatever you choose, Brighton is definitely one of the most romantic cities in the UK and a must visit for the two of you.
