Dog Friendly Beaches in Brighton

Two of my loves in all this world are, firstly, obviously, Brighton, this amazing multi-cultural city I live in, but also dogs. With our Hotel having Dog Friendly rooms available, and the city having great facilities for pet lovers, I would always recommend bringing your dog with you.

CAN I WALK MY DOG ON THE BEACHES?
Like most cities, there are restrictions on certain parts of the Brighton & Hove beaches, but this is only in place during the busier summer season, from 1st October to 30th April dogs are allowed on all beaches at all times. In summer months, the council have been proactive in using clear signage at the beach entrance points, detailing if dogs are allowed and when.

SO WHERE’S BEST?
The best rule of thumb is avoid where the main tourists go for sun-bathing, and thankfully for us, only a few minutes’ walk from our hotel, the beach front from the Brighton Pier towards the Marina is dog friendly. It’s also only a few minutes’ walk from the main beaches, so don’t feel like you’re missing out.

For those heading in the other direction, towards the old West Pier, there are areas that allow dogs in small patches, as well as larger sections by the Hove Lawns. All the details can be shown on the Brighton & Hove Dog Friendly Beaches Map here.

If you’re looking for a hearty walk, head passed the Marina towards Rottingdean, as the beachfront is permissible for dogs all the way from the Marina to Saltdean. A great walk for fresh air and exercise for both you and your beloved pet.

On the promenade across the City dogs are permitted, but they must be on leads and kept under control. With a lot of bike riders, skaters and other dog walkers, a dog off a lead can cause mayhem, so make sure to keep this in mind.

WHAT ELSE IS THERE TO DO?
The City loves pets and so many places allow your pooch to join you whilst you dine or take in a bevy or two. My top picks would be Cup of Joe, in Kemptown, the Laughing Dog at the Brighton Marina, or Metrodeco, that even host doggy tea parties!

Want a memento of your full family experience then why not book the Brighton Dog Photography company, who will capture you and your pet against the beautiful backdrop of Brighton, or fancy having your pooch exercised for you – then book Dog Jog Brighton – to get you a rest from your over active lovable dog.

Whatever you decide to do, don’t leave your four legged family member behind – he needs a holiday as much as you do, so make sure you get the bowl and dog bed packed and head our way.
